Schedule models

ClubSmart implements two maches scheduling models: the timed rounds model and the queue model.

Timed Rounds Model

In the timed rounds model, matches are organised into distinct rounds, with each round needing to be completed before moving on to the next. Each round runs for a specified amount of time, and all games conclude when the allocated time has elapsed. This model is beneficial as it provides a clear structure and sequence to the event, making it easier for players and organisers to follow the event's progress. Additionally, it ensures a level of fairness as each participant will play the same number of rounds. Here are some further considerations regarding this model:

  • Efficiency: By having a set time for each round, organisers can accurately predict the duration of the event, making it easier to manage logistics and schedule.
  • Fairness: As each participant plays the same number of rounds, this model promotes a level playing field, making the competition fairer compared to models where the number of rounds might vary.
  • Ease of Understanding: The straightforward structure of timed rounds is easy for both participants and organisers to understand, which can enhance the experience for all involved.
  • Competitive Integrity: The model supports competitive integrity by ensuring that all matches are played under the same conditions with regard to time.

The Queue Model

Contrarily, the queue model operates on a first-come, first-served basis, where matches are organised in a queue and played as courts become available. This model affords a level of flexibility, making it easier to adapt to unforeseen circumstances without causing a significant disruption to the schedule. Here are some further considerations regarding this model:

  • Flexibility: The primary advantage of this model is its adaptability to changing circumstances. Whether there are delays, early finishes, or other unforeseen events, the Queue Model can adjust without major disruptions to the schedule.
  • Continuous Play: By organising matches in a queue, there's a seamless transition from one game to the next, ensuring that courts and players are continually utilised. This can lead to a dynamic and engaging event.
  • Ease of Participation: Players might find it less stressful as they don't have to adhere to a rigid timetable. They only need to be ready when it's their turn in the queue.
  • Efficient Utilisation of Resources: Courts and other facilities can be utilised more efficiently as they are occupied as soon as they become available.
